RSBTS Review: August 2010

This is my first month beginning this segment of my blog, but this is also one of the first few BTS articles that Jagex has released in my recent memory. Every month I will begin blogging about the future updates that Jagex will detail us on and some of my insight on them. On with it, then!

Jagex’s Behind the Scenes Article can be summarised with the following updates that I will elaborate on further:

  • A new void based quest called A Void Dance
  • Occult floors for Dungeoneering, ranging from floors 36 to 47
  • Six new Dungeoneering bosses
  • Eight new Dungeoneering rewards
  • Treasure Trails FINALLY released (No info in this post)
  • A new way of gaining void points
  • An excuse as to why they will not get updates done on time *rolls eyes*

Elite Clue Scrolls on their way… Sell your treasure trail items?

Jagex informed us all in their latest Runescape Behind the Scenes article that they plan on releasing quite a large update to the current clue scroll system; implementing “150+ new rewards” and “elite treasure trails”. These were apparently crafted by Jagex with the intention to make sure that all players felt more rewarded when doing a clue (yeah, we’ve all got a green dragonhide body and 2 rune pickaxes before).

What would my thoughts be on these revelations? Sell your clue items, now. That’s what I’ve done, at least; because if Jagex really promises every clue to have a treasure trail specific reward – how can we expect for our good ‘ol black cavaliers and white berets to survive with an excess of 150 new items that are going to be pounded into the economy like climbing boots?

Our current ‘tt’ items are guaranteed to drop to some extent in the near future – so I’ve made the decision to sell mine and wait until they drop. It may not be a large difference, but it helps.

Other than that economical impact, I’m really excited to see what new items are on their way: Dragon masks anyone? I know I’m pumped for this as much as anyone else is. Only problem I can think of is “How am I supposed to kill high enough monsters to get the damn clue?”.

Something to think about, eh? Adios.
